Stitching Wizardry

This page will chronicle my creations, (well those complete anyway), I mainly make clothing for my flower fairy grand children & niece. I also stitch up the odd item for myself, usually too big and poorly altered to fit at the last-minute. I like making handbag pocket tidies, rolls and boxes too.

I rarely use patterns but have been trying a range of free down load digital patterns recently, I like speedy sews as I can spend extra time on embellishment. My beautiful daughter Amelia tells me often ‘you dont have to put a necklace on everything’. I try to refrain but I love small creative projects. I guess I have no staying power or patience and rules cheese me off.

Baby Romper

Baby Romper Blank Slate Patterns

The Baby Romper pattern from mellysew.com was so pleasing to make, it just made me smile! I had been hoarding the fabulous map fabric but when I saw the romper pattern I knew it was perfect for it.  I don’t seem to make as many baby boys clothes as I do girls, but I will be making more of these.  I was very tempted to put rick rack along the bodice  but settled for a small loop at the back.

This little jacket was made with a gorgeous seer sucker fabric and red sweatshirt , I made a whole strawberry garden collection. Cardboard Lilly was created during this sewing spree. My granddaughter Lilly Rose lives in Holland do I made a 2D cardboard manikin! I may introduce her to Matilda, they could keep each other company.

I love the simplicity of envelope necks, this was a free download digital pattern from pearlbee.com. You can buy complete sewing kits to make the t-shirt & there is a nice clear tutorial. I lengthened the sleeves and added a camper van applique as Olly loves camping!

    • I hope it inspires you to make something quick Totie, the sewing time stealing summer holidays are fast approaching. I have the reverse luxury as I am off for the summer holidays or as I like to call them sewcations.
